If my dog was in Budapest – why can’t you?

So here I am standing on the road again. Well, not exactly on the road – at the end of petrol station in Vienna holding a sign ‘Pest’, which goes together with my friend Pavel, who’s standing left to me with ‘Buda’. It took one hour of waiting and off we go to Budapest! Our international Balkan adventure started with a Romanian guy, who’s working in Austria and living in Hungary, who took us straight to the center of the capital of Hungary.

We decided to take a walk along the river to the Parliament. On the same time, I was getting used to my new backpack – it always takes time to make ‘just a backpack’ into ‘my backpack’. On our way we found very interesting, but with a sad history, monument. There was a line of metal shoes next to the river. Those shoes stand for the Jews that were killed during the Holocaust and whose bodies fell into the river. We stopped to take some pictures – were touristic, isn’t it?

Upcoming Trips

After short trip to Croatia everything got back to normal, including ideas where to go. In fact, I got that many ideas where do I want to go, that I couldn’t decide where to go first! Good thing that my old friend Pavel came for a visit and suggested to join him on his trip:

Austria – Hungary – Serbia – Bulgaria – Greece – Albania – Montenegro – Croatia – Slovenia – Austria — Balkan Mafia here I come!

My backpack is packed, Tulku is wagging her tail next to the door and we’re hitting the road by hitchhiking on Wednesday! In the meanwhile, please sign up – and you’ll be the first to hear our newest stories and see our photos!

Meet you on the road ;)

Croatia 2010

So here I am, living in Vienna and not wishing to travel. What next?

And the Spring came next. The fresh air and the spring smells woke up my memories from the last year, the Spring on the road, the adventure and everything in-between.

Together with Spring my wish to travel came back. I packed my backpack for a short trip to Croatia. I’ve spent a lot of time with my backpack and it was a nice feeling to put it back after nearly a year. It felt like I was putting on a part of me, that somebody removed from my body and now it’s back in its place. And by the time I was on the road everything went back to normal: life in Vienna and life on the road.

I don’t want to travel anymore!

That was awkward. No, that was more than awkward. Me not wishing to travel? Is that even possible? Apparently it was. People kept asking me ‘so, where do you want to go next?’ and me, the one who lives in the middle of Europe and who can reach everything in less than a day – all I could answer was ‘I don’t know’!

Now looking back, it still feels a bit weird. I guess, I just needed some time to settle down, find new friends, get used to new country and city – everything was different now, including my wish to travel.

Italy 2009

In September, after summer-with-no-fun-but-much-studying me and Tulku went for a short trip to Venice, Italy. We were hosted there by Eleonora and Giulia, a woman and her dog. She is like a grown up version of me, just it took a bit longer to realize the same thing I did and to get to the same decisions.

We had lots of long talks and it felt weird all the time – when I was telling my stories she felt like I was telling her stories and when she was telling her stories I felt like she was telling my stories. After a week with her I felt that I’m on the right way to go.

Life in Vienna

Here we are – living in Vienna – the best city to live in on Earth.

Why Austria?

Because of the mountains! I appear to like them so much, that I can’t live far away from them.

Why Vienna?

Because it’s the only big city in Austria, and I like big cities! In the same time, it’s not too big, it’s easy to navigate through the city and it has metro (and I love metro). Oh, and Vienna is very dog-friendly city, and that’s important, because I have Tulku. Continue reading

Summer 2009 – Austria

Just by the end of May I decided to move to Austria. So I did. I’ve met some interesting people through couchsurfing. Some of them became good friends of me, some not – but all of them had their stories.

First we went to Linz
